matchday 14+15

End of Matchday 15 and Inter Miami continues their run. We also had midweek action in MLS this week. Inter Miami faced off away at Orlando. No Messi in the Florida derby. Match started lively with a couple chances from Inter Miami that forced some saves and last-ditch blocks. Orlando grew into the game and also had several chances of their own. Muriel with a nice touch to Ojeda who takes the half turn followed by a shot forced Callendar to make a save. Second half was less lively in terms of quality of chances and it led to the game ending in a 0-0. This extended the current belt run for Miami to 3. This was Orlando’s second attempt at home to get the belt. Both matches ended in draws for The Lions.

The match on Saturday was between Miami and D.C. United. It required late heroics by Leo Campana, but D.C. still had their chances after the stoppage time goal. This was D.C.’s 2nd attempt at the belt. The first one was a 3-1 win against the New England Revolution. That saw them hold onto it till the end of 3 matchdays when they faced this Inter Miami squad.

Inter Miami’s next opponent will be the Vancouver Whitecaps. Vancouver hasn’t had a good time finding the back of the net lately. They do have a Canadian Championship match at home against Cavalry FC before they face Miami on Saturday. A win against Cavalry could spur them on at home. Vancouver has faced 3 opponents from the Eastern Conference. They are undefeated having faced Charlotte, Toronto, and NYRB, with that last matchup being a belt matchup.

D.C. United took the belt from New England Revolution on Matchday 2 and held until they faced Miami

Red Bulls went on an undefeated run until Miami showed up again.

The West has a 4th chance to take the Belt.

Nothing too surprising besides that Vancouver has struggled in scoring. LAFC has become their boogeyman and Colorado is a surprise itself based on what many pundits believed to be an unsuccessful campaign for them.

Top goalscorer and assist charts stays the same for the week.

Lastly… The Rules.
